【國慶日在巴黎吃台灣菜】
They say not until you leave home would you realize how much you love it.
I can’t believe I’ve been homesick ever since I arrived in Paris, the city that I’d strived to come. Paris didn’t fail me, there are always plenty of things to do that you’ll never get bored, and the weather is much better than that of Taiwan—for this I’m pretty grateful. I used to think Taipei is nothing beautiful and that there are things more fun waiting for me abroad. But now I clearly remember me waiting in line at 小福 for my bowl of 滷味; me sitting at the backseat of Chingyu’s bike on the way to our after-class dinner; heart-to-heart chats with my girls at cozy cafes on 溫州街; mum looking at the menu of my favorite Chinese restaurant, which I used to consider expensive but with that price you can merely afford cafés in Paris. One night I dreamed of me getting back home, feeling so relieved to be with mum again. But I told her in the dream, “No, I have to go back, I can’t just give up after two months! I need to complete my exchange….” Home is the only place on earth we feel comfortable with; home is the only place we claim absolute right of existence.
