What I don’t like about Paris:
-Too many people. There are 21,000 people per km2 in Paris, even worse than Taipei (9,900/km2), whose density I think is already suffocating.
-Evil pigeons. The pigeons feed on food residues produced by the large population in Paris that they are so unusually plump. They wouldn’t bother to fly only when you’re about to kick their ass. Frightened pigeons can be offensive—they take off like toy planes, coming right at you that you wish you had a tennis racket in hand to wave them away. Paris is crowded enough. We don’t need any more birds to take up the space.

-The metro is CURSED. Let’s skip the part of pick-pockets and passages smelling of piss and the ancient stains on the seats (you’ll regret sitting down in white). Every time I take a ride I get overwhelmed by a strong lethargy as if someone had blew me in the brain. Maybe it’s because the light is dim and that the closed space is un-air-conditioned. And the rocking car often stops in the middle of the tube while braking so violently that you might break a bone or two.

What I like about Paris:
-Inexhaustible resources of cultural and artistic activities. Basically all major museums are free for students under 26 and for the others on some specific days of the year. Performances of the highest quality can be enjoyed at a reasonable price. Apart from that, free concerts are taking place every day and everywhere, which could be organs at the Notre Dame de Paris or accordions down in the metro. The rich heritage of the Continent is right at your disposal.
-Cafes, bistros, tearooms. You’ve got to admit that the Frenchy really have some extraordinary taste for aesthetics. I bet any of these adorable shops could be swarmed by bloggers if it was in Taiwan—wooden tables, iron signboards, collection of antiques, decorations with a warm hue—everything’s so effortlessly perfect. Sitting on the terrace with an expresso and a cigarette is especially an ultimate but casual delight.
